thats my room mates iron, its the cheapst peace ive ever seen. and hes NEVER used one before or ever will... he picked it out him self.

Eh, it looks decent. The problem with those are they take FOREVER to heat up. If you haven't ever used a soldering iron before this would be a good one to see if you like soldering without spending a lot.
But if you want a really good one get a Weller industrial soldering iron. They ROCK! I own the WES51 model and it was worth the money
It heats up in under 30 seconds! Solders great too. And the handle is designed so that you wont burn you hand constantly.
In fact, I haven't even burned myself with mine and I've had it for bout a year! I used to burned myself constantly with my Radio Shack iron
I would say get the cheap one and upgrade later (thats what I did)
