Linux , mac or windows?

Which one do you run and why? If you have duel boot then say why

I was runnin Linux on my comp, but it went all screwy and im in the process of fixing it (this is my parents comp). I like linux because its virus and spyware free, plus its open source...

What's this for anyways?

Well i am just wondering what people around here use for there computer os, i run windows just cause its easier i guess, but i am about to make the change to linux, but i will dual boot just incase i need to use windows for something

Windows = Compatibility
OSX = Stability
Linux = Free, lacks on both Compatibility & Stability sometimes though. Really depends on the distro. Ubuntu's nice, now that it cleared out most hardware compatability issues, but it's still unstable sometimes in my opinion.

Macbook: OSX and XP
Dell: Vista (But before I had Ubuntu and XP on it)

I use OSX and XP even amounts on my Macbook, but the Dell gets about 80% of the usage time. Macbook maybe gets about 1-3 hours of use a week, while Dell gets about 30+ Hours (UT 2004!!!! Woo!)

Btw, Both of these are My computers, not my family's or anything

I'm a gamer first and a gamer second, and maybe fourth and fifth as well. There is no third. Therefore I use Windows exclusively- specifically Windows XP.

I have all three, but my PowerMac G3 has some video card issues so I don't use it really. I currently have Linux (Ubuntu distribution) running on most of my other computers. My HP now duel boots, but that's because ATI can't offer good drives for Linux and I like to play WoW. My oldest laptop runs 98, and thats because it's old, and really I can't get DSL to run on it and DeLi wasn't that great, I only us it for taking notes anyway.

I run OSX on my iMac G3 and XP on my other desktop. I really really like OSX though it runs everything so nicely, for example I have iTunes on both of my compys and the iMac runs it much faster than the PC.

All of my main use computers (Desktop, work laptop, HTPC) run Windows XP Professional SP1a or 2. My old gaming Mac ran Mac OS 7.6.1 (It also has AV in/out built in

) An old POS laptop I used to use runs DSL 2.1.

Linux, in my opinion, is a toy. When I want to use a computer, I just want it to work without having to mess around with compiling software, rewriting configuration files, and tracking down package dependencies. Besides that, it doesn't run the software I need. I know, "you can run most of your Windows programs under WINE", but if that's the case you might as well just run Windows. I only use Linux for data recovery and as a LAMP server. Other than that I have no real use for it.

I don't use OSX because I'm too cheap to buy Apple hardware. I know you can run it through OSX86 on any PC but it's technically illegal because running OSX on non-Apple hardware breaches their EULA, regardless of if you bought it from the store or downloaded it off BitTorrent. Besides, I don't have any OSX software.

Windows isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is, as long as you keep your antivirus and antispyware software up to date, install a hardware router, put an encryption key on your WiFi bux, and don't click banner ads all the time. Basically, don't be stupid and your computer will thank you.
