Anyone here gone into this sort of thing? I robably mean more of an ROV, but one of my friends at school is thinking of doing this and i\I am interested as well.

I know what he wants, in a way:
Â·) Small as possible, prefered to be under 80 x 50 mm
Â·) Full control, not sure if he wants speed control though, but full b/f control of two pager motors
Â·) Low wieght (durr!)
Â·) B/W or colour wireless video (sound possible)

Is this possible, what sort of batterys would be needed? Li-Poly, pager motors don't draw that much, so around 150mAh or more? Were does he / I (we are doing it as a group project, electronics) get this sort of things, like the motors, wireless pinhole camera etc etc? Is computer / serial controll possible, I have a libretto (100ct, got it yesterday) can this be used?

Any imput is great.

Yer, our electronics teacher is good, but with anything except electronics, thats our sort of fallback on the physical part, would serial communication be able to handle video, and basic controls?

I am only thinking here f very low uality video, not 1080i HDTV. =]

You might want to try This for serial control, just look at the R/C stuff.

If you don't have experience with robotics, I'd think that it would be better to make something a bit bigger to start out. Find the happy medium, not too small or too big, because those can cost more.

I do have experence, as we were in the solar car chalange, just not in computer control, or feeding the video back to the laptop, thats all.

We shall, our current plan is to make a lite frame out of al. Like a u shape, with the two motors (large pager, gearhead) on either side.. Here is the most simple fount on ever.

Thinking power though, how explosive ARE lipo batteries?
