My apologies, but I will not be able to attend the MGC this year. Work has really got me tired out lately, so driving through the night isn't a possibility, and I hadn't budgeted for a hotel; that along with some unfortunate friend-related problems have kept me in Texas this year. Hopefully next year, though.
Cheers all y'all; have fun with the games and say hey to Ben for me.

You mean Ben didn't show up at his own barbecue?

Pictures are good!
We should install Gallery 2 on PoD. (Maybe gallery.portablesofdoom.org?) Everyone could have their own album (Which should only be used for relevant images), and of course we can have some common scrapbooks for stuff like this. I'd be happy to set it up, and maybe make a skin that blends in with the redesign if I have time.

I had a lot of fun. good times.
I think I might of annoyed ben, I hope I didnt. I wish I would of gotten to talk to the forum members more but I brought 3 friends and my brother with me. I wanted to talk to metallica man x about metallica.
I took a pic with me and ben, and a video of him kickin ass in contra.
EDIT: nevermind, metallica man x wasnt there today.

Excellent presentation Ben very enjoyable. The highlight of the show for me.
In fact I was somewhat disappointed by the rest of the event. I thought there were more vendors selling more stuff last year.
I liked the trivia they had this year so parts of it were better and being able to play Tron on freeplay was great.
I was just bummed because I was hoping to pick up a trackball for my 5200. Last year I saw several and also several 7800 games. This year I didn't find anything. Plenty of 2600 stuff but there didn't seem to be as much stuff from the post 2600- pre NES - generation of machines.
I might go back tomorrow and see if I can find a Colecovision or an Odyssey 2.
Chris

Well, an update for those that want to know how things are...
The group kind of accumulated early on with Myself, gannon, G-force, Triton, CronoTriggerFan, and Ben. Soon, we all heard "BENHECK! BENHECK!! BENHECK!!!!!111" and then gannonbanned joined us as well for a bit.
We went to the event, checked out the vendors, played some games and pinball and the like, had a good time. Then we all went to see Ben speak at the event, where he told about all his different projects (book, movies, and, of course, portables)
After that, we all went to Chipotle, a place that sells huge burritos for those of you that haven't heard of it. How big, you ask? Well, Ben didn't really know how to eat his as you can see here

Then G-force got this controller not much unlike the PS3 boomerang, but for the PS2. And it's red. So, of course, I showed him my idea for it...

Back to the hotel room...
G-force bought an NES knockoff thing. Apparently it's the world's most popular Computer Video Game System.

Triton working on his GCp

gannon (left) and G-force (right) looking at gannon's NESp, I think it is. No, that's not a soldering iron next to the sink in the background

I'll try to get more pics with more people tomorrow
