If you want to chat with someone, install pidgin and use one of the many normal providers it supports, not one swarming with creeps.

No, it does not give you viruses, they'd have been caught by now if it did.

vskid, Pidgin doesn't support MySpace chat, as far as I know - and what do you mean by "normal" providers? As far as I'm concerned, pedophiles could just as easily harass you through MSN or AIM.

There isn't a way for them to search for your username, though.

The program itself may not give you viruses but it's another way for people to hack your PC. (Just like AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, etc...)

You should know by now that anything Myspace related should be avoided.

MySpace IM can't give you viruses itself, but its protocol opens a big security hole in your network, which often leads to viruses and stuff. It's not encrypted at all either...

Yeah - MySpace = Evil...but when everyone else uses it...

Dude, seriously, don't do it, my wife installed myspace im and it took me like 3wks to get rid of all the spyware that seeped into our puter from it, it had my login shutting down like 6 times an hour and I didn't even have it on my login so take advice and just use something else to talk to the myspace geeks,

Just throwing the idea out there, but maybe you can try googling if any other alternative IM programs use Myspace's protocol. I use Gaim in place of AIM (only because I'm FORCED to use AIM because it's the only way I can contact a select few people)
