Thought I'd bring this to all your attention.
Last night I jumped on and added a mod to the NEWS forum, I also added some active mods to forums that were lacking adaquit administration. This is only a quick fix, we're working to better place who is in charge of what forums.
I would also like to mention that if any of you feel that something that to be done or someone is abusing power please feel free to voice your opinion. However this doesn't mean that you can go and make baseless claims again someone or demands that are beyond need. Keep it simple and keep it honest.

But seeing as you put in that bit about voicing our opinions respectfully, I guess I'll put in my two cents. Not really about people abusing power, but more people who don't deserve power; as has been mentioned a few other times in this thread, there are several of our moderators who have either left the forum completely, or just aren't around very often at all. I can think of at least 5 people off the top of my head who are here every day and could do a much better job of cleaning things up than the current staff we have doing it. In all honesty, the only people here on a regular basis anymore are yourself, gannon, Skyone, Bic, and Triton. Sure, there are a few random mods that stop by every now and then, but they're definitely not as active as they used to be to uphold the status. Heck, even SpongeBuell has come out of retirement to visit more than a lot of the acting mods here! Just thinking out loud.

I feel the same way, I'll help if you want me to. I really don't care either way, I just want to keep the forum going.Harshboy wrote:I'm on here like everyday..and I don't have a job this summer...so I'm gonna be really bored![]()
If you guys ever need another mod, I'll be glad to help out. I'm not gonna ask, I'll let you ask me

We're all itching to know.I can think of at least 5 people off the top of my head
With the current setup, here's who I nominate for modship:
CTF: Mature enough to be a mod and not abuse power. Been here long enough to be considered an old member (though not as old as those from the old forums) and respected by many, hated by few.
Vskid: See above
There's more, none off the top of my head.
This is what I propose (and you don't need to take this 100%, it can be worked to your satisfaction).
We have 2-3 mods for every forum, like we do now, only switch the powers around to more deserving/present members. In addition to that, the older members (pending 3 thumbs up from 3 separate mods) get granted a sort of "mini-mod-ship". Each forum will be granted a few of these "mini-mods", instead of having 3-5 for all forums. These guys will have the power to do simple tasks that improve the overall appearance and well-being of the forums, such as clean up posts, (maybe) lock threads etc.
Not only will this keep the forums' community happy, but it will also encourage the older, more experienced members to check in more often and stay a part of the forums longer, thus enriching our community.
Here's an example:
Let's say I want minimodship. I would choose a forum lacking minimodship (or we could have a list with spots for us to fill), like, say, the SNES forum, or Case Construction (A less active forum, I know, but I love making them!). I would then somehow contact 3 or more mods and ask for their approval. Having gained approval by 3+ mods, I would be granted minimodship of the Case construction forum, and given the abilities TBD. In addition, a title will be handed out to these mini-mods that will show the rest of the forums (and newer members) that these members can be trusted with the information they provide.
What do you guys think? It still needs a bit of shaping. A lot of the older members want something to show the rest of the community they know what they're talking about, for example, in a noob argument over whether or not a PSP screen will work or not, and minimodship is perfect for that, too.
Hey, sup?

That's just because of behaving members.
See paralyzed lasting more than a week on the forums, with few locked topics. And he had a lot of topics. One, which i recall, was titled "I WANT IT" and the internals read "I want it how much?" and was a response to another thread about a PSP. Although you are right about not much going on, it doesn't hurt to be prepared and make a few people feel special in the process. If they aren't needed, they won't have to do much, will they?

That's all we need. Notice any spam epidemics lately? No. Notice any quality conversations in F42? No.CronoTriggerfan wrote:In all honesty, the only people here on a regular basis anymore are yourself, gannon, Skyone, Bic, and Triton.
And since I never cease to have an opinion, here's a good comparison I just thought of:
A forum is like a nice beefy truck. Ideally, the truck can drive all over and go off roading and get dirty, but is still kept in working condition.
A forum with no moderation is like the truck driven by a teenage girl yakking on her cell phone. It doesn't necessarily mean disaster, but has a good chance of getting screwed up.
A forum with too many or too strict mods is like the truck having one of those owners that doesn't let the truck get dirty at all because they want it to be perfectly clean and shiny. Those kinds of people annoy me. Why have a beefy truck if you can't have some fun with it?

well i would rather see our forum as a truck with a careful driver who likes to have some fun vs a testosterone filled teenage male with a drivers license and keys in hand. all we are doing at present is reorganizing who moderates what, its not like we have hired the freaking gestapo to police the boards and gas anyone who gets out of line! at most we would add ONE moderator to replace the 2-4 that have left us. if there are no interesting and intelligent posts on this forum its not because of the moderators is because we have stupid boring memebers!
(if its any help most of you are neither boring or stupid!)
