Alternate Gamecube OS??

Are there any alternate os's for the Gamecube that are complete?? Also what would you guys say is the best modchip for the gamecube?? Also is their any where can I get disks so I can play my legal backups or is their another method using some other form of media?? And yes I have tried google.

Isn't gamecube linux complete? I've only used the media edition of it (MFCE IIRC)

im pretty sure you can use a regular dvdr as long as the data is written on the inside and then you just have to like take off the top half of your case

Dudex how well do you think that would work in a portable?? And how easy is it to install linux (on the gamecube)?? And which mod chip would you say is the best??

It's fairly easy to run GC Linux, all you need to do on the GC side of things is run the Linux DOL via whatever method you want. However, you need a broadband adaptor, and you need to have your PC permanently hooked up to your GC. So it's impractical for a GC portable. Mod chip wise, it depends on what you want to do. If you just want to run 'backups', I'd get a XenoGC. They're very cheap, and work well, but only basically run backups. You get what you pay for. If you want complete IPL replacement, features such as an MP3 player, and loads of other stuff, I'd get either a Qoob Pro or a ViperGC Extreme. Personally, I'd go for the Qoob Pro.
