Samus VS Master Chief
What if Samus Aran (from the Metroid series) and Master Chief (from you guessed it, Halo) were to battle each other to the death, who do you guys think will win and why?
I think Samus will win easy by melting Master Chief guns with her arm cannon and then blast him away using her rockets.
(If anyone with the ability start a poll here who would like to do so, be my guest.)

Samus looks good with her helmet off, just look at kurt_'s avatar, but I think the Master Chief would beat her. I mean, all she has is her suit. SPARTAN 117 has been augmented with supreme reflexes and strength and was a nearly perfect example of a human before that (which is why he was chosen for the SPARTAN II program). He was far superior to other humans without his suit, he is beyond compare with other humans when he has his armor on.
SPARTAN 117 has an energy shield which protects him from enemy plasma fire, which I'm sure would have the same effect when against Samus's arm cannon. Even if he did get his guns melted, he could just out-maneuver Samus and her arm cannon and get in close and beat her down. If you evened the playing field and took them out of their suits, SPARTAN 117 has his augmentations which would help him conquer again.

I've played Halo before, but I guess I didn't pay attention much when it came to Master Chief augmentations. (I was just itching to get started, I should have at least understood that before starting this kinda thread
)
But if you think about it, Samus's rocket launcher(which is built into her suit by the way) doesn't need time to reload(like the rocket launcher in Halo does), so she could fire one rocket to take down Master Chief's shields and then another to blast him to pieces! (Or just eat away at his armor with the arm cannon before the shields build back up) Samus does have some kinda protection, so it would take the Chief a while wear her health bar (at it's max) down. So yeah, you don't need to able to throw a WartHog a good distance to take out Master Chief, but you're right though. Samus would be no match for him if both were taken out of their suits, but what we're talking about here is who is better in the best of circumstances for both sides.

Then Master Chief would have an energy sword and be 15 feet away from Samus and gut her before she even knew he moved, or a sniper from a fair distance away, so she gets taken out before her rockets reach the Master Chief and he can run.11up wrote:what we're talking about here is who is better in the best of circumstances for both sides.
On the other side of the scale, I don't know much about Samus's abilities, so there could be some wrong stuff in what I say about her. I don't know if Master Chief's augmentations are even mentioned in the game, but it talks all about them in the books, so thats how I knew. Hooray for reading!

wow this is nerdy, I'm trying to think of any other two video game characters that I don't care about fighting eachother--why these two?
and didn't somebody post a pretty annoying video on this subject not too long ago? (I want that 10 minutes of my life back)
samus definitely has the mobility edge and a health bar which would take hours to deplete. Master chief doesn't even seem to have a name.

actually I'm pretty sure it's built into her arm--unless recent games have changed this fact. I don't care much for the recent games.11up wrote:Samus's rocket launcher(which is built into her suit by the way)

What if the weapons Samus usually goes against are weaker than the Master Chief's? Then her health would go down a lot faster.Reaperman@home wrote:samus definitely has the mobility edge and a health bar which would take hours to deplete. Master chief doesn't even seem to have a name.
The Master Chief's name as a child was John, he is later known as John 117, SPARTAN 117, and the Master Chief. His last name is never given and erased from all records.

Based on what I've read (on wikipedia), I'd have to say Master Chief (Petty Officer) would win in a no armor fight, as he has more formal "combat training", being raised to be a supersoldier, whilst Samus was raised by an alien race.
One question is, which Samus would be used? Each game, Samus has slightly differing array of weapons and accessories.
There are:
8 different suits (including the basic power suit)
The morph ball, bombs, power bombs (and combos), boost ball, spider ball, etc.
7 visors (including one only in MP2 multiplayer)
21 total beams
11 missile variations (including combos)
Various energy and ammo expansions
Various movement systems (including double-jump, the screw attack, and the grapple beam)

Thats not the Master Chief, its the SPARTAN from Dead or Alive. Read the stuff at the bottom.Skyone wrote:Haloid
Maybe we should find out the exact specifications on Samus and the Master Chief and make characters for them in Half Life 2 or something so they can duke it out.
EDIT: limpport: Read the stuff at the bottom of the page.
Thing is though Samus has one thing that Master-Chief can't fight against. That is the ball with bombs, and maybe the wall crawl ability. When Samus is in that ball form she can't be hurt or it's really hard to, and withe the bombs it's a way to kill someone very easy when you're in close proximity.
One thing I do have to say is that wit hte SPARTAN II gear you loose health, and so are stuck relying on your shields. Yes the shields are more powerful but in Halo once your shield was down you can still take a few good hits before dying. SPARTAN II doesn't give you that advantage, it's shields or take a dirt nap.
Really if it was a battle fight like in Halo, where Samus can pick up ammo and energy as the fight continues I'd have to say in the long run Samus would likely win. She's got some extemely powerful attacks and like I said with the ball form. Master-Chief could put up a good fight but most likely would lose.
