It's called cellophane. You can get it at any craft store (I think), I got it at Michaels.
But like I said, my cube's led circuit is ooc (out of commission). So no pics. Maybe later.

Wow, it has been ages since I've checked back here/done any updates. Well, I managed to snatch a few hours today, as I revised all yesterday and this morning. I felt a bit guilty for ignoring my modded GC, and I didn't want to let it rot, as it were, so I opened 'er up again, and did a bit more :)

-Completely re-did the controller port LEDs. The original LEDs were ok, but I recently bought 50 15,000mcd neon green LEDs off eBay, so I shoved them in there. The difference is absolutely huge. I sanded them, and pretty much covered them in hot glue, and they diffuse the light really nicely. Any UK people looking to mod consoles, look up phenotpix on eBay, great prices, fast delivery, and awesome products. I really can't recommend them enough.

-I also did an upgraded memory card mod which looks sweet. I managed to squeeze 3 of the LEDs into the mem card's clear casing, and covered them in hot glue. They throw off so much light that it lights up my whole room! One bad thing though, the card managed to corrupt itself somehow :x Good thing I backed up all my saves on my other card :P

-Put hot glue behind the drilled holes above the controller ports to diffuse the port LED light a bit more.

I still need to replace the memory card LEDs, and possibly the fan LED. However, revision called, and I didn't have enough time :(

Pics:
My brother recently got a Fujifilm Finepix S5700, so I've FINALLY got some decent pics of this thing.

I'm really happy with the way it's turned out, it looks so much better than before. Once I get some cash, I'll get a completely transparent case, and dot loads of LEDs all over the place, until it glows so green, it'll scorch the retinas of anyone who looks at it too long :P

Show some pics without the card in. I want to see the cube lights alone.

Yeah, I'm planning on doing light up buttons when I get my replacement case. The stuff I've done so far can still be used when I get the other case, whereas if I did light up buttons now, they'd be wasted when I got rid of the old case. Cheers for the positive comments :)

My clear case arrived yesterday, only 1 day after I ordered it, and I promptly slammed it on. It looks AWESOME, seriously, I couldn't be happier. I only need the mod chip and the Wavebird until I'm pretty much done hardware wise, then it's LEDs all the way :)

Sorry there aren't any LED pics, I had to disconnect the arrays when I was putting it together, they should be back in action soon :)

It sure is purdy!

What modchip are you getting? You know, just about the only one worth getting is the ViperGC extream.

And what are those extra plugs on the back bellow the a/v?

Err, I was actually planning on getting a Qoob Pro, it seemed to have the best features (big on board flash, MP3 player etc etc.) I haven't actually heard much about the ViperGC Extreme
The case case with a USB adaptor/flasher thing. It's basically the Qoob's USB socket relocated to the back with a protective door and everything. It has mini and normal sized USB plugs, and you plug the Qoob's flex cable into it.

If I remember correctly, the ViperGC is the only chip that can make backups without extra hardware. It's a nice little chip. Qoob is second best.

viper gc is a nice chip but the usb part of it is faulty sometimes.
mine was and I've read that some other people had problems also.

I'd say the xeno is the best deal though its something like 8$ now. I guess it's just because I didn't use any of the extra features; just used it to play "backups"

Cheers for everyone's comments :)
I got the GC case from here. Very fast delivery, and a decent price, so I'm pleased. The only slight problem was that I had to thread the screwposts myself, they didn't come pre-threaded. Not too much of a problem :)
I'm still not sure about the mod chip. I'll worry more about that after exams, when I have more money, I only really fitted the case because I got it a few days ago.

UPDATE : Lots of pics!

The lights are back! :D Yep, after being disconnected for ages, I re-hooked them up today, with the added bonus that I've installed a switch at the back of the GC to control them. Previously, the LED's lit up whenever the PSU was plugged in, even if the GC was off. With the switch, I can switch them on and off whenever. If they get annoying during play, I can just get rid of them. STILL havn't done the memory card port LEDs, dunno why, probably because I'm a lazy SOB, but hey :P Only bad thing, the lid open button broke, so I had to fix a very ghetto replacement. It works, which I guess is all that matters. I'm also planning on putting LEDs in the handle. I think no one's done this before, so it should be interesting :)

ZOMG PICS!
