I finally freed up my WGT634U router from it's duty as the primary router. I never intended it to be anything more than a toy, but the router we were using previously started dieing everytime an appliance came on.
Anyways specs:
Broadcom 200MHz CPU
32MB of RAM
8MB flash
USB port
Wifi (being a Wifi router and all)
Since this is basically a low-end Linux system (once you install OpenWRT or OpenWGT) without video out, I'm interested in turning it into something interesting. It shouldn't be too hard to turn it into a portable since it only needs 12 Volts, though any output will have to be via USB or serial.
An existing cool project for the WGT634U, and the reason I bought one in the first place: The Wireless Music Player
For visual output, I see two possibilities without me buying anything, both interfaced via serial:
Cybiko - minimal hacking needing to get this running and gives me a keyboard, and B&W screen
Mattel Juicebox - much more hacking needed to get this working together with the WGT634U, but would give me a color screen. Though I couldn't use it for much more than text and simple graphics. The Juicebox has quite a bit of it's own power (arm7, 8MB of RAM, ability to read SD cards) too.
I have a USB audio adapter (like the one linked) and a variety of of other USB devices, including several small keyboards.
Any ideas what I should make with it?
