I officially hate my PSP.

This is frustrating beyond belief. Ever since I swapped my PSP's faceplate and buttons out for a custom one, the buttons have lost SERIOUS reaction. Bought a nicer custom plate, installed it, still sucks just as bad. So now, I've gotten my money back for the custom plates and have finally bought a brand new original Sony plate, but I'm worried that the faceplate isn't the problem, that it's the plastic filament where the button elastamors are, as seen on the control ports here. If my worries somehow become a twisted reality, is there any way I can fix this? I've looked for replacement plastic control pad filament with no luck, and I don't want to lose my PSP over this! Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time!

A member on another forum I frequent had a favorite saying: If you do a mod and something doesn't work, it was a direct result of the mod you did. Undo everything you did and take it from there.

Sounds silly, but it's true.

So my suggestion before spending any $ would be to put the original back on and see if everything is normal again. That'll tell you where the problem is.

Under any other circumstance, I would totally agree with you; however, I need my PSP done before I go to the Midwest Gaming Classic, and with finals next week at school, I need every moment I can get to repair this thing, the sooner the better. So though it'll cost some extra dough, I'm willing to do it.

And I think I may have found the parts; are the first two items on this page what I need? I'm pretty sure they are, but I just want to get your guys's word on this. Sometimes I tend to trust a lot of our members more than I trust myself. Thanks!

I honestly don't know what you need, as I've never taken my PSP apart. I checked that link and it looks to be the Divineo main page. I found the PSP page, but still don't know what you need. Sorry man.

I've encountered this before on controllers I've disassembled before. Usually one of two things is the cause: Something is preventing the case from being together tightly, often times a wire in the wrong place. Or, the buttons have rotated just slightly out the grove they fit into, which prevents them from moving all the way.

If somehow you have damaged the filiments, you might be able to use filiments from a controller.

Did you damage the button itself some how? I've taken apart a lot of keyboards, and some controllers... You can slam the heck out of them from the front, but behind those keys and buttons is really fragile. Is the button broken?

CTFan, lemme know how ya make out with this. I have a crack on the bottom of my PSP (mysteriously, starting at the bottom center screw) and am looking at the clear cases here and here. Thanks!
