I think it could work. might need some kinda uC in there but whatever, its not too hard.
Probably won't work all too well. The Wiimote has 3 axises. Joysticks can only have two... just think about it...

gamecube controller has 6 axes.

two per stick and one on each shoulder button.

play the gamecube version of twilight princess for insight. (especially fishing)

-_- Not quite what I meant. I just meant the wiimote itself, minus the nunchuck. The wiimote tracks the Z, Y and Z axises, yes?

Edit: Okay, wait... I just realized you said gamecube... and it still doesn't make sense. What do you mean one on each shoulder button? AFAIK it only has 4. X and Y on each joystick. Altogether, the Wiimote has 5.

Ah, I just remembered what this thread was about... let's try to stop hi-jacking it... >.>

If the shoulder buttons are analog they can be considered an additional axis.

Hmm. I suppose that's true... didn't really think about that... but I still don't know how that would be mapped out exactly. Seems like it would be quite... odd. But yeah, okay. You were right I was wrong and such. >.> Somehow it escaped me that the shoulder buttons were analog. :P

to be honest i didnt really think about it too too hard.

i havent played enough wii games to really get a feel for it.

but i think it would be fun to play around with it. a lot of the wii games i have played (sports mostly) seem to have a lot of weird glitches and cheats and stuff (my favorite is bowling.) and it would only make it more crazy to try to use a stick to do it. since it is /theoretically/ entirely possible to master any wii game with joysticks for accelerometers, you could end up getting pretty insane with your joysticks.

anyways. dont expect anything from me this decade. wii remotes are too expensive to be taking apart yet.
