Whats a good system for a casual gamer?

Post by ValiantVenality »

I have realized I had so many game consoles in my life its not even funny. What makes me mad is that I can never decide what I have actually liked and wanted. I am doing really bad in school and I think I need to stop playing games as much as I do. So, whats a good system for a casual gamer? Like, whats a system I could just pick up and play and have fun with, but not get really addicted? And when I have a friend over we could just pick up a fun multiplayer game? One more thing. Whats also a good portable game system? So when I do have extra time when Im not at home, I could have some great fun. Thanks in advanced!

I think the most casual current console is the 360.

This is kind of a question of preference really. I'd say something like a Playstation to 360 would work. Even something like a Gameboy Color to a DS, that is if your friend has one. What you want out of gaming is more to do with the game then the system.

For example if I were to go that route I'd play something like Soul Calibar III. You can play the campaign mode when you want and use it to get more stuff unlocked at your leisure. You can then turn around and duel people when you have friends over.

I'm not saying go and buy a PS2 and SC3, but that is something you can tank into account when you are making the decision.

lol, you're too stupid to even come up with your own suggestion. Notice the "I think"? That means its my opinion, if you're going to bash it, at least say more than "you're funny".
I said 360 because thats what I'd get, and I'm a casual gamer.

atari 2600. you won't get addicted, but when you are bored and need something to do, the a2600 can actually provide good entertainment. no, this post was not a joke. Dew it. dew it nao.

I'd actually say the GameBoy. You can grab a GameBoy Pocket for UB3R cheap anymore, and just grab a couple side-scrollers. The MegaMan, Super Mario Land, and Kirby games on the original GameBoy are all a blast, and specifically designed to be played in short bursts. And even if you've got a GameBoy and play it a bit already, you'd be surprised what else the system has to offer; there's a ton of great "hidden gems" out there just waiting to be played. Good luck curbing your addiction!

I'd say grab an N64 and a Gameboy Advance. Both together can be found for as little as $70, maybe less. They're both outdated, so there are an abundance of hits already available, especially at used prices. If you don't wanna go for older generation, go for a PS2 and a Nintendo DS.

I had to sell my 360 because i played G.O.W waaaaay too much. Its an addicting console thats one thing for sure. I would go with a NES or Genesis which you probably already have. :)

PS2. When I'm bored and just want some casual gaming, I just sit down and play some GTA. Wreaking havoc in a non-linear free roaming game is just a lot of fun. It's got plenty of multiplayer games too.
