I have the same problem. You'd think that I could replace my 2 256MB DDR-266 sticks with a couple 512 sticks for pretty cheap, but for the same price I could get much newer ram, so I might as well just save the money to get a new computer.Triton wrote:what i hate is that newer ram is cheaper than older ram!

It'll go down, maybe in another 5 years or so. - once it becomes so obsolete they don't sell it anymore. Just look at old SIMMs and DIMMs, you can get them for dirt because they're from 12-20 year old comps.sgtpepper wrote:What really sucks is the price of PC100 RAM... I don't think it's ever gonna go down.It costs around $70 for 512MB, that's friggin ridiculous.

I really don't believe that about flash ram. When I can buy a 2GB USB drive for $16, I really can't believe that. Flash ram is likely going to continue to drop in price because industry and consumers alike are always wanting bigger capacity. The technology going into making them is also catching up with that of processor construction.timmeh87 wrote:i heard that ram prices are plummeting and that they will likely stay there. (conversely, flash is apparently going up, so grab those sd cards now)
