Final fantasy 8 Graphical problem

Hey, i got my Cd's back working. (well lent some from my freind).

When I play, I am getting an error with the graphics. (I failed "8 Bit Pallet test*, although the demo works on this computer (I think, or it my have been my other laptop).

Does anyone know how to fix that?

Okay, I fixed the problem by selecting "software renderer". But now I have another problem. The game lags. Its perfectly fine while in menus, but when playing or in battle, everything feels sluggish and laggy.

Any help?

did you try the patches?
