My brother is a ********* need some help!!!

Post by Dr. KillGood »

Ok to start off I am unfortunately forced to sleep in the same room as my older brother. Our room is messy, so we decide to clean it up. He hates cleaning his clothes and all that junk so he decides all of this clothes that are on the floor are mine. I did my part and took all my clothes that were on the floor and put them away and all that junk.

His clothes were still sitting there, now he decides to tell our parents that the HUGE pile of clothes is mine. They do not even fit me as they are WAY to big.

Now sense I still refuse to clean up his mess he is taking the pile of clothes and putting them on my bed and making it dirty!!!! (I like keep my bed clean)

So I put the clothes pile on his bed and he puts them back on mine and keep complaining to out parents like a little baby (BTW he is 20 and needs to move out) I even went through the pile and took out all the socks for him! What can I do to get him to clean up his f**king mess?

Also about 3 years ago I saved up for 6 months and bought a TV for myself, I had to barrow $40 from my brother because the one I decided I wanted was a little more than I had. (TV was $120) now he is trying to claim 3 years after I paid him back $50(I gave him a extra 10 to be nice I do not know why) he is trying to say I never paid him back!

WHAT CAN I DO! My parents keep telling me to "Just pick the mess up even if it is not yours." but than he will be getting away with pushing me around yet again and I can not let him do this! He is pissing me off so bad!

Please help me out here.

I agree...if he "claims" they are yours, tell him you don't like these and will throw them away right now. Place them in a bag, then see how he freaks cause of HIS stuff being tossed.

Yeah, the trash is good. If you don't want to do that then just shove them under his bed.

No, not the trash.

If they're good clothes pack them up and say you're taking them to donate to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or something.

That way you aren't wasting good clothes, if he doesn't do anything when you give him one last chance he can't just go an pull the bag out of the trash, and you'll be "doing good," so your parents might be less likely to get mad.

Simple: Peaceful, non-violent, non-cooperation. Just don't pick them up.

note that the following advice is comming from a sailor and only child--perspective may be a bit out of touch and may be wildly inappropriate.

Throwing them in the trash/goodwill sounds like a good idea on the outside, but I must be missing some huge difference between our generations--is something wrong with fighting?

It's not too big of a leap to imagine that if his clothing goes missing via the trash or goodwill, something of yours will go missing soon after. I've seen it happen and it's going to be hard to live with somebody with that going on--though I suspect your goodwills will be much more fun to shop at once the important stuff starts going missing.

I say an honest fight. tell him about it again, call him on it, and when he refuses to square himself away, that would be a good time for a light push and a repeat of telling him to pick up his stuff. Odds are that that's as far as it has to go.

Even if it breaks into a full-on fight and you lose, he knows that every time he does something that's just completely wrong, somebody's going to call him on it. The clothing will be picked up either way.

There also seems to be a huge parenting gap going on, and a fight should get their attention more than a complaint/whine. I'm not exactly sure why asserting yourself physically when you know that you're right isn't an automatic reaction. Is this a new living arrangement?

you think this is fun? try sharing a room with 80+ guys. it's amazing how many similar situations popped up. I had no idea how to deal with it, but I learned pretty fast how not to get leaned on.

Stuff the whole pile under the bottom sheet of his bed. (The elastic one right on top of the mattress.) then "make" the bed over it. He'll pull away the top sheets expecting to find the pile there. Or, steal his pillow. Take the pillow out of the pillowcase and re-stuff the pillowcase with the most rank of the clothes.

Or, if you can get his keys, pile all of his dirty clothes on the driver's seat of his car. :P (Especially effective in warm weather with the car in the sun...)

Definitely donate the clothes. That's the perfect solution.

If I throw away the clothes or goodwill them my computer will most likely not work the next day. It is worth about $1500.00 and I do not want to risk it my brother would do that.

I like the car idea! Maybe in the middle of then night when he is sleeping put them in his car!

Any more options?

Fight. That'll get your parents' attention and make it clear that you won't pick up his clothes. Why are people so afraid of physical violence these days? I fought all the time when I shared my room with my older brother and I don't regret it at all.

One word Bios password. (ok that's 2 words) and a real live lock on the case.

Neither of those will block the effects of a baseball bat repeatedly hitting your computer.
Talk to your parents without him there, and if they won't do anything, fight your brother.

Answer: He has to sleep sometime....

Solution: Sticks and stones may break his bones, but a sword will surly remove them.

Problem a+2 = a2?

Spam: Yes

AntiSpam: Well, you could try to burn the clothes.

You know those beeping things that make a random beep every 1-2 minutes? Randomly.

Thinkgeek has expensive ones. Get those! Hide them everywhere he goes.

Also, if you don't want to comletely get rid of the clothes, hide them in a spot he doesn't go, and SAY you threw them out.

Or, a much less evil approach is to just take the clothes, and go to your parents and show them why they aren't yours.

Also, tell him to get a life/girlfriend/possibly job and get his own house.

Just start dumping them in the backyard. If you don't have one, ROAD!
