Nah I'm too busy playing halo 1 on the school computers :D But then again i'd rather play metroid any day of the week. Halo's levels in one and two were just too repetitive.

Dragon your seriously wrong man. Halo is not one of the BEST out their its just a flashy FPS with bells and whistles and some online play that eight year old kids and a lot of losers play. Half Life 1 and 2 blow it away.

In your opinion Half Life is better. Obviously they're both good games, or they wouldn't sell so well. Some people prefer Half Life, others prefer Halo. You can't go around saying people are wrong because you don't agree with them, have a little respect for other people's opinions.

Halo may not be perfect, but it's still a great series and one of my personal favorites. For those of you who think it has a generic or bad story, then please tell me why there are four books (with a fifth recently announced) and a graphic novel dedicated to expanding it? In my opinion it's a very detailed universe with a lot of depth, and one I enjoy more than a lot of other popular fiction and other videogame stories.

As far as gameplay goes, it seems you either love it or hate it. I love it. The sales figures and XBL data indicates that I'm not alone. Make of that what you will...
Just because there are four books about it doesn't make it a great story. It's still just another Aliens are going to destroy humanity game with a twist, they will accidentally kill themselves too.
The character development is nonexistent, and there is nearly zero detail about the mediocre story actually in the game. The action, however, is really fun.
Half Life 2 is superior just because of the fact that it has fantastic characters, wonderful story telling and pacing, and an absolutely fantastic twisting and mysterious story to tell. The G-man is one of the greatest characters in video game history IMO because he is so mysterious and sadistic, but compassionate and sorrowful. His character is a fantastic multidimensional character that we gamers don't usually get to have in games.

Have you read the books? It doesn't seem like it, because if you did hopefully you wouldn't still think the story is boring and generic. If you don't like the story, fine, be my guest, but don't say Half Life is superior when you haven't even given Halo a chance by delving into its backstory.

No, not DAY'AM straight.

Please don't turn this into a Halo bashing thread. Stay on the topic of the Halo 3 beta, not which FPS game is the best (which is...wow, an opinion! Amazing how so many people don't respect other's opinions...).

Any more flaming and B6, segasonicfan, or I can lock this thread ;).

Anyway, I wish I could play the Halo 3 beta...sounds really fun. Still, I'm not a big enough Halo fan to be that anxious about it. I have a lot going on, and Halo 3 can definitely wait until the fall ;).
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Sorry I wasn't bashing halo 3, I was agreeing that half-life 2 is good.

I didn't mean to bash Halo myself. I enjoy the games. That's why I bought my xbox. I just like to state facts when there is a fact to be stated. All I was trying to say was that IN GAME character and story development was really bad in Halo. The story, to me is not that impressive. I don't want to have to read a bunch of books to understand the game that I am playing, I want the game to be self sufficient. That is the sole reason that I don't hold Halo in a higher regard than I do. Again, I do apologize, I was simply attempting to straighten out what another poster originally said about why halo wasn't as awesome as it is said to be.
