He could just have the PC next to the chair with the cables running to the chair. Or if it has to be in the chair you could make a dampening system to protect the hard drive from making shavings of itself.
I don't think that buttkicker thing would make much of a difference, theres still vibrations.
im just saying that there isn't really a generic interface for "force feedback". is he going to gut a usb controller just for the contacts there? he would need to rig a relay and a separate power source to make it work halfway decent, and it would only work in games that supported ff.
if he had something tied into the LFE channel of the soundcard, he could use it for anything. in order to do that, he would need some sort of analog interface to activate the motor..

Oh, I see what you're saying, and that makes perfect sense. A subwoofer or similar would be easiest now that you mention that.
i planed to use a usb controlor that i have to get the contacts and hook that to a relay. but the hooking it out of the sound card sounds better. i cant say more because im in school and have to go.
I've dont this before but it was more a gamer chair
It had 2 speakers at the top of the chair neer my ears
It has 3 Mid woofers under the cusion so i could feel ever punch and kick (found a place down here that sold the mid woofers out of auora interactive which is what they where designed for originally)
This was also a recliner and on the side of the chair i had cut out a small hole that held 4 soda cans i used one of them 12v mini fridges you can get for $30 i created a plexiglass box then wrapped some sheet metal over the sides and back and attached a peltier to the sheet metal it worked quite well
I did 2 joysticks on each arm 1 was for controlling the other was only used for the buttons it felt easier using a second joystick for buttons only when your arms resting on the armrest
Thats what it is a gameing chaih i just called it a virtual realty chair i would put sub woofer if i had an old one. and i have two small speakers becide my ears.
Id reccomend mid woofers instead of subwoofers if ur using it for the feel of the game if its just sound then a sub pointing out the back will do.
Sadly i hardly game anymore plus the chair finally fell apart lol
I was going to make it invisible that it was a gaming chair the joysticks where ment top pop out of the armrest so it atleast looked like it was ment to be there.
Then again i've done tomany things over the years like mount a crt under a table with the glass tinted so if u wanted to play a quick arcade game the tabletop just lit up otherwise it was a nice coffee table
Id say first off work out what ur gonna have have many speakers, subwoofers type of controls and how they work
I have it planed already which is a first for me. .
i might take out the motor and put in my two hi-fi subs. are you sure that they give enough woof to feel it.

If you are sitting right above them, they should be good as long as the bass is turned up. I think you might need an amp for them, but I'm not sure.
mid woofers and sub woofers are totally different mid woofers give u the thud at low volume levels where the sub needs to be turned up loud
But if ur gonna use subs make sure its not too close to the cusion and it has ventalation either putting in some vents on the side of the chair or back
I don't reccomend a hifi system for it the space is to enclosed if its inside the chair
