homework zomg poems!!

Can some one find me a decent poem. Something dark or gory would be nice (not emo). Must have an author I can look up do a small biography on.

I would suggest something by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

His stuff is often assigned in highschool English classes, but his life would make for a relatively interesting report, since he was a severe drug addict.

His most famous poems seem to be The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, which, unfortunately, was the source of the title of the awful, awful film, Xanadu.

Ahhhh Kubla Khan. I did that last year for my GCSE English Coursework piece. That and Ozymandias by Shelley (I think). Great poem, written after he had a massive morphine induced dream

emily dickenson wrote a lot about death, try her (plus they are kinda short)

Poe is excellent yes, but most of his poems are quite long, "The Bell" for example is like three pages and is very dark when he talks about the iron bells of death, good stuff
