Is this safe?

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey its thunderstorming outside, and I have a few questions.

During a thunderstand, is it SAFE to be on a laptop thats running on Batteries (Not plugged in), and browsing the internet using WIFI?

Also, In a thunderstorm a lot of freinds that I know watch movies during it.
Are they complete idiots? As that could easily fry theyre TV?

oh you just reminded me that those storms that are happening to you are gonna happen to me here in a couple hours, severe ones too.

I love Thunderstorms.

But On mythbusters, they tested the Phone Myth, talking on a telephone during a thunder storm, and it was confirmed, it can kill you.

But the Computer and TV that they had hooked up didnt fry.

I don't know, but I just say do whatever at your own risk.

I dought you will get zapped by lighting in your house by using wi-fi and running off the laptops battery.

Twisted, Im in Ontario also. Where are ya in Ontario?

Im in Bowmanville, and theyres been some close strikes here.

But, I think Im safe, as My laptop is running off of BATTERY. So theres no way my laptop can get shocked. Also, I dont think a wireless internet can get zapped either, as it used less energy than a light.

Well if the laptop is running off of batteries you can't get shocked from that and the wireless doesn't transfer electricity to your laptop in any way your completely safe.

Yeah, the phone can kill you IF IT HAS GUN POWDER TAPED TO THE END!! (That's the one part of the episode I don't understand...) Also, the TV and computer were turned off when they tested it.

As for getting killed with a laptop with batteries, and wifi..... Maybe if you're in the shower?

Electricity is lazy; it finds the simplest, least restrictive path from point A to point B. You're inside a structure that's made out of some insulating material like wood or masonry. It's more likely to strike a tree outside than you.

Then again if you were in the middle of a huge field stealing Wi-Fi with a cantenna... :P
