Does it even do that brief flicker you get when you turn it on? If you do, try the power on without a game method I mentioned, and blow on the game. I've found that the N64 is almost as bad as the NES.
actually, when you do that, I think you have to remove the game, remove the expansion pack, turn on the system and leave it on for about10-20 seconds, turn off the system, plug in the expansion pack with no game in the cart. slot, turn on the N64 for about 10-20 secs., turn off the system, then finally try it with a game. Boy, what a mouthful :P!!!!!!! (or in this case, er, handful :P?)
also, it could just be that your expansion pack is screwed up, or that your N64 has fried. Hopefully, that's not the case!!!!!!
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

The expansion pak is hard-wired, I can't well remove and reinsert it!

Can't you just cut the power line? Or wouldn't there be some kind of 'sense' pin?

I think he removed the connector and hard wired it.
