Battery Powered 360?

Okay, I'm a complete newbie (and 14 years old to boot!). The 360's adapter says it has a output of 12 volts, and 16.5 Amps. 16.5 Amps is 16500 mAh, right? So I found some batteries (though not really cheap) that says it has 16500 mAh capacity. Is that what I'm looking for?

A 12V 16.5Ah battery would power the max draw of the 360 for ~1 hour, but since it shouldn't draw the max the psu can put out, probably longer. The voltage must be a steady 12V though.

mAh is more a measure of capacity rather than power. even if the battery had enough capacity to run at 16.5 amps for an hour, it doesn't necessarily mean that it can put out that much sustainable current for that hour. you really need to figure out what the power requirements of the the 360 really are and what your battery can provide. this mean you need to know the actual current draw and the sustainable current that can be supplied.

there is probably a reason why ben hasn't used a battery to run those 360 laptops..

This is one application where a Lead Acid Battery would work wonders since they have a high current rating.

With a couple of these you should get an 2 or so hours of battery life.

you can usually get some information about a battery's current output from its overall capacity. the notation 'C' is used to represent one multiple of a batteries capacity. to discharge a 1Ah battery at 1A would be to discharge it at '1C', 500mA is 'C/2' (Â½C) etc.

lithium batteries usually can handle upwards of 2C discharge

Is there any reason for using it with batteries? Its kind of a waste if you have an outlet close by, and if its to protect from power outages, a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) would be better.
And about age, I think I was 13 when I started here, and theres plenty others here about that age. When it comes to this stuff, knowledge is the key, and knowledge doesn't necessarily come with age.

Well, my reason is because I wanna laugh at everyone that said I couldn't, then as soon as they're gone, plug it into a charger and thank god it didn't evaporate.
As for my age, it's only because I couldn't solder a lightbulb to a circuit. It doesn't really do with my age. I just suck. =B
Plus my mom thinks I'm going to kill myself... :roll:
