Any 3d Modellers out there?
Do we have any 3d modellers here? I am in need of a modeller for a game I am making. I can't pay anything, but you will be in the credits. I need human models, guns, items, scenery, etc. I'm building a FPS. Let me know if anybody is interested in forming a team.

good luck getting 3ds max legally, its like $5000.
its been a while since i modeled anything. maybe if you would put a big list of things you need up lots of people could contribute a little rather than one person contributing a lot.
what program do the models need to be made in, and what are you doing with them (ie, modding some existing game like generals?)

i use lightwave. its a lot cheaper than a lot of the othder programs and its still quite powerful. i think that the educators version is something like 200 or 300 or something like that and the commercial version is 750-800 last time i checked. but educators = you can't use to make games your planning on distributing to a lot of people which =
But I'm pretty sure that Unreal Tournament was made using lightwave.

This will be my first attempt at 3D, but I've got a few 2D things under my belt.MrTroy wrote:Use Milkshape... It's cheaper and does the same thing. Max is a buzz word used to boost sales, anyone who's worth a grain of salt artwise should know that it's not the program. It's how you use it.
khaag... how many projects do you have under your belt so far?

Well there are some good models in this topic. http://benheck.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=18588. The PC Source code for grand theft portable. there are cars, ben heck model, and othet 3d models. And it's free to download.
I still would like to know what khaaq has in mind here. Im no expert in the field, but I dont think you can just make a 3d model in any program you feel like then slap it into any game engine you feel like.
I mean, maybe you could if you wrote the game engine yourself, but I hope thats not whats happening here (look what happened to GTP).

You're exactly right. I need it to be in .3ds format. Later, I will convert the models to .X (Direct X) .3ds just seems to be the easiest to convert. Anyways, if anybody is actually interested in forming a team, let me know, and post some examples of your work. BTW, it will be programmed in DarkBASIC using the FPSC engine.
