ah, I didn't realize you were testing with the mask ROM... I was testing with the mobo itself. If you really need one later on I have an extra mask ROM I can send ya :)

Awesome, I'll let you know if I need it. :) I just it up this way for easy access to the pins (I'll probably lug out the old oscilloscope sooner or later).

Man Fry's sound like an awsome store, to bad the only Fry's is a state over from me (The Indiana store) that sucks that they have like 17 stores or so in California (Which I think California is a huge disgrace to the United states.) and the Farthest East store is in Indiana.

That's only because you've only heard of Los Angeles and Hollywood.

Yeah, don't diss California. We're not all gay, we're not all surfers, we don't all live crazy lives with celebrities, we aren't all raging liberals, we aren't all rich, and we aren't all whatever other stereotypes you get from stuff like the OC. :D

Okay, I gotta comment on the CA thing...

I grew up in the SF bay area and I have to say that I just absolutely love it there. I have traveled immensely in my life- been all over the US, Europe, Australia, Caribbean, etc and the only places I would ever want to live are SF and London.
That said I am living in the Los Angeles area and thank god Im moving back to nothern cali. This place is hell with a capital H. Sorry to those from the OC/LA but I truly despise it here and that's just my opinion from living here for a year now.

So you can rag on southern cali all you want, just make sure every other part gets some love ^_^

Okay how was that for a digression? lol, let use know on your findings skyone. Also PEOPLE YOU CAN ORDER FROM FRYS.COM. Just want to make that clear for those that would like to help out on the hacking. You can find em cheap all over the internet (including ebay).

OK time for an update..

I sent off my ROM's to Viletim! (from SMS Power and GameSX forums) since he wanted to do work on it and is a friggin genius with this stuff. What's even better though is what I found at K Mart yesterday....

Brand new units with 1 and 2 games built in! The one game ROM should serve perfectly for cracking :) Here's a pic of the inside:

Much smaller and nicer than the previous Playpal and MUCH better soldering pads placed BEFORE the ROM connections. So no more worries about pulling off the ROM incorrectly :)

As you can see we were right about pins 1,43,and 44 being the higher databanks :) Since it's only one ROM we can definitely see which pins MUST be used finally. I might do some more work on it later but I am tempted to just leave this work to the ppl on SMS Power since they know much more about all this anyway. Still couldnt hurt to deoslder the ROM and try it out on my GG later :)

It is not junk! It is assorted goods with no current use.

Awesome, so we were right. :P

I've been awfully busy, but will get back into this project. Keep me updated on how Viletim does!
