Think this is possible?
I just tore open a gamegear with a botched display, to look at it's insides. There seems to be a main board thingy, with a lot of stuff attached to one side of it, with wires leading to two smaller boards with a lot of stuff on them near the battery packs. The screen, controls, and cartridge slot are attached to the main board. I know nothing about circuit boards or the gamegear screen, but would it be possible to create a custom board and replace the bulky chunky things with modern smaller versions to make the gamegear smaller? If it is possible to make a NES on a chip I think there has got to be a way of making the gamegear smaller. Especially since the date on the main board says 1991. With the right knowlege and tools, would it be possible to make the gamegear a bit more portable?
Yes it is possible, but unless you have almost limitless ambiousion (like Jeri Ellsworth) or have a great knowlege of electroinics and computers you might not make much advancement in creating a SMS/GG on a chip.
To my knowlege you can try to work with others on consolidating the whole of the GG to just reduce the size, but still quite and endevor.
If you want to look up info about the GG and see if there are ways of combining the Z80 chip it used with other componites study it and then work to find a way to integrate them, if you so choose this project, good luck.
P.S. Sorry if my writing is a little more18th century I'm reading Darcula and its effecting how I stucture my thoughts.

I don't really know that much about electronics. I sorta slept through that point of tech ed. At that time in my life I didn't care because I didn't even have a computer, but I learn something new every time I make a google search, and it can't be all that hard to understand, since it's nice hard unchanging science. I don't know about creating an "on a chip" version but I am pretty sure the 13 year old technology can be vastly simplified. Maybe the gutted GameGear can teach me a few things. I think it would be great to make a portable system even more portable, or at very least I can salvage the case.

True, basic elecronics doesn't change too much, but the digital electronics that run the world changes almost weekly.
Just look up processor evolution in the past 20 years.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

my english teacher is like we need to develope our own opinions and when we were trying to come up with what we thought the theme of the story was she would be like "no thats wrong" so i just learned to go along with what she thinks

Ah... I hate people like that. They say one thing, then contradict themselves and say youre doing something wrong.gotchocolatemilk2 wrote:my english teacher is like we need to develope our own opinions and when we were trying to come up with what we thought the theme of the story was she would be like "no thats wrong" so i just learned to go along with what she thinks
