Boy, Famicoms sure are small...

Post by Nes Man »

Famicoms sure are small, I guess you know what that means... (If only a cart would run... :? ) Every time I put in a Cart (Nes or Fami) the screen just stays black no sound just black. And I just got it. Does anyone know what the problem is. And no, I did not do anything to it. (yet) I know nobody here probably has a famicom but, has anyone had the same problem on an Nes?

P.S. thanks a bundle for it makuraken.

Well dont know if the cart connector is detachable like the NES are but it might be dirty or your games. I know long shot but thats about the same issue I have with a NES I bought.

I don't think it is. But then again, it also isn't a piece of crap like the NES is :) I dunno why they bothered changing the design so drastically for the USA market- the Japanese version worked much better :/
How are you getting the video from it? The Famicom only works on Japanese televisions.

I plan to video mod it. Right now I can get a fuzzy black screen on chanel 8. I think the problem is with the PPU...

In the Nes The Lock out chip is directly to the PPU. Does anyone have any Nes and Famicom PPU Pinouts? I plan to put a PPU from the Nes on the Famicom. Does anyone foresee any problems?

They both use the same ppu :?
The only difference is in the modulator. By getting composite video right off of the main board you bypass any jap/usa problems with video.
