Two shootings in two weeks? Either the government has a weird goal set in mind, or people have just had enough, are country isn't going to last much longer (IMO).

Your thoughts?

What other shooting are you refering to other than the obvious virginia tech shooting, I heard there was one at the Nasa base and someone took hostages.
Meh... So I don't post much?

Crazy people get crazy ideas. You can't expect to understand it.

Part of the problem that led up to Virginia Tech is the state's extremely lax gun laws. Apparently the guy voluntarily went in for psychiatric treatment and was released, but the gun stores only had to ask if he was involuntarily comitted. If the gun laws were more strict this may not have happened.

Countries blowing each other up, religious sects at war over each other over minor belief differences, nutjobs spontaneously killing innocent people... :( We live in a sad, twisted world.

Hey now don't start bashing guns, remember guns don't kill people, people kill people do, the gun laws don't work, adding more gun laws won't work, the majority of crimes committed with guns are committed with stolen or illegal guns in the first place, someone who is going to kill someone will find a way to do it no matter how many restrictions you put on them, and crazy is just crazy, the guy at virgina tech probably wouldn't have snapped if he had just relaxed a little instead of being so hi-stress.

on another note: the guy they are saying did it, didn't do it, it was a government plot, I mean how many civilions do you know that can pull off that kind of kill rate with a set of pistols, and if you watch the videos where you can here the shots, check the shot pattern, pow pow, pow, thats execution style, total military

I'm with Dman. All it takes to defuse a potential massacre is a well-intentioned citizen (or a cop) who owns a gun and has the confidence to use it. However, one can't expect college students to be packing, and there really should be something that could be considered actual security as far as college campuses are concerned.

I believe I saw on some news show that there was a town in Georgia that passed a ordinance or law or something that everyone in the town had to own and carry a gun, the thing is you would think crime would go up but crime not only went down, it stopped almost completly, if everyone is carrying a gun its hard to get up the courage to attack someone and mug them or rob them or break into their house cause you would be afraid of getting shot. and on another note, Benjamin Franklin once said " when the people control the guns, the government serves the people, when the government controls the guns, the people are slaves to the government"

I'm all for less gun control. I want the ability to have a nuke in my backyard. Why should the government be the only one allowed to have one? It aint right I tell yah... it aint right.

Am I alone here, or am I the only one who thinks all this stuff is so freaking retarded it's funny? All week, me & my brother where making fun of the VT video. (straight face, reading from paper, looking down, "Do you know what it's like to be humiliated? You don't know what pain is, only I do.")

People die all the time, every second of the day. That's how life works. I don't need to get worked up or even care over the death of 33 people, nor will I. Alcoholism, obesity, smoking & AIDs are the REAL problems, not some idiot with social problems.

All I gotta say is don't blame it on the gun laws. The laws have and are still working just fine. If he wanted those guns badly enough he could still have gotten them from some gang banger who sells them out of his car. Seriously, its easy to get guns. Unless your in New York or California, in that case... its kind of hard to get a handgun...

Death by natural causes is the way life works, death at the hands of another is murder. That being said, I agree with atari2600a about not getting worked up on the matter. A couple dozen people getting shot is terrible and all, but it just doesn't surprise me very much. In fact I'm almost devoid of emotions on the subject entirely.

I do, however, feel angry that the shooter shot himself. Its just such a cheap way to avoid the consequences of your actions.

Couldn't agree more, Bic. This isn't an issue of "evil government conspiracies", just stupid people.

Though I must say, I don't think that tighter gun laws are the answer; in fact, it's exactly the opposite. What's the country with the lowest crime rate in the world? Switzerland. Why? Because everyone is allowed to carry a gun. Honestly, do you think our mentally disturbed South Korean friend would have lasted as long as he did if a number of students in Norris Hall had guns as well, ready to pop him? Would a bank robber be so prone to rob if he knew there was a gun right behind the desk he was robbing? VA Tech tends to agree with me, as they have lifted the gun ban on the campus and allowed students with a valid CCW to carry guns at all times.

Stop me if I'm misunderstanding you; if you're speaking from the standpoint that, because of his medical file, it should have been MUCH harder for him to get firearms, I wholeheartedly agree. His mental instability was medically proven, and on legal file. I have no problem with people buying guns, but not proven psychopaths.

Your last comment I agree whole heartedly with. I feel justice can be served if the instagater can be caught and put on trial. But when they just shoot themselves, it boils my blood. Reason being that it's human nature to look for a cause and with the real cause dead it's something silly.

I personally think that if they ever got one of these school shooters alive they should make their lives worth the suffering they feel they have or cause. Namely I'm thinking the whipping of them on either a monthly or annual bases would be quite enough. Killing them does nothing, make them suffer and make sure that any idiot that should follow a similar path will think twice if not more about such an act.

I don't care if that violates the "no cruel and unusual punishment" clause in the constitution. I feel examples must be made of those people, it's been done in the past, and I don't see why not now. Simply executing them isn't going to deture, it's not bad enough. Really executions today are painless, or so they claim, and I think if you want to make sure people don't see it as bad is to make them suffer.

Yeah very cold hearted and sick, so what. I think it's insane we let anyone that cause these kind of tragedies happen get a slap on the wrist. Even if theses are not a common event I feel that examples for what kind of acts will not be tolerated at all should be made.

Solitary confinement does wonders on the human mind. And I wholeheartidly agree, killing them just gives them an easy way out.

I agree about the killing them, you might as well let them go, the only difference is they can't hurt anyone else. Even better than both of your ideas is solitary confinement and having them do grueling physical labor, like breaking rocks all day. And if you don't do your quota, no bread or water for you.
