Joystick to buttons

Post by ShockSlayer »

Well, this is kinda cool.

I took an old cstick from a gc controller, and I wired one of the pots to c-up and c-down. It worked.

I wired ground to the middle contact, and c-up to the up on the joystick and c-down to the opposite.

However, testing quick relay like some games need, I don't know if this is a good thing. I may isolate the grounds from the c-pad from everything else. How many ground pins are there that go directly to the chip?

I'm still playing around with it. Here's a pic

Should work fine, it'll fire a button signal whenever the voltage hit the min. tolerance of the IC (don't know how low that is though). Anyways, the ground should be unaffected really, that's how many joysticks and other voltage dividers already work.

Well, more tests have shown that when pressing a direction(c up for instnace) holds the button down for longer than expected. I found this out by the ocarina on oot. I tried it on the dpad, and It didnt do so well. it wanted to go all directions at once. It might just be the joystick.

I never replied to this post, but the info is extremly helpful if you are doing anything like this.

Cut the contact that you connect the c-data to, not gnd
