Would this 3.5 TFT LCD Screen work for portables?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

hmmmmm..........maybe.........since it can output composite video, perhaps it can input it, too.......well, I guess you either have to buy it and experiment, or else look for more info online......
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

My reaction exactly... When in doubt, hack it.

Just wondering, why the hell would they need a TFT active matrix screen in a `photo` display?
When in Japan with access to just about every system ever made and those that have yet to see international soil, gather your forces, and make the cool ones your own.

I dont know a lot about eloectronics and things like that really, but if the screen was meant to display pictures... wouldnt it have a slow refresh rate compared to other screens?

Doesnt an active matrix give better resolution than a passive matrix?

You're talking about pixel count - there is no technical reason why the pixel count needs to be related to the type (active/passive/TFT/STN/DSTN/etc.), though TFT screens do generally have more pixels. The main reason for using TFT in a photo viewer is contrast ratio, to keep the photos looking... well, photo-realistic! High pixel count would help in that regard too, but isn't a given.

Also, while the TFT screen itself must have a high refresh rate, there is no reason in this application for the driver electronics to support anything useable for gaming or video.

passive matrix screens are terrible for gaming, the game gear used one. when there are still pictures they are fine, but once you have motion, they are really blurry.
