Atari 2600 Jr. TV Cord?

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey, I have an Atari 260 J0r, and a whole bunch of games for it. I really want to get back playing this thing, but I am missing the TV cord for it.

On one end (The end that goes onto atari), its like a black A/V (RCA) cord, and on the other end, its a screw in RF.

I have tried using a NES TV cord, but it doesnt work properly as I get a mixed image with big black lines going through it.

I don't feel like buying one off ebay or something, so are there any alternatives to this, that I can BUY or MAKE?

Thanks.

As far as I know all versions of the 2600 just pump out straight RF. As long as you can find an adapter to go from the RCA connector to the cable connector you shouldn't have a problem. (The center RCA pin goes to the signal wire, and the outer rim to the shielding.) I think they make these connectors.

Alternately you could buy an old-fashioned switch box (Rat Shack might still have some) and run an RCA cable from the console to the switch. Then you can just screw the cable connector on the box right to the TV, or if it's an old one use a 300 ohm to 75 ohm (right?) adapter to make the spade connectors work with your TV.

You could always do the composite mod, you know... :P

That made me laugh. That was some good advice though. Perhaps worthy of being placed in the sticky?
