lasers that burn holes in things

I've always liked lasers. I know there is http://www.wickedlasers.com/ which sells lasers that burn holes, but there way to expensive for my budget. way to expensive. especially for a laser. is there any ones that are in the $50 or under range that burn, or could I somehow make my own with an old laser pointer?
