Compressing Videos

Hey, I wanna download a movie. (Dont worry I have the backup), but its 700 MB. I want to put it on my PSP, Is there any way that I can compress it to like 200mb (100 mb preferabbly)

The quality doesnt have to be good, as remmeber its on a PSP.

Also, does the PSP support Mp4/Avi/wmp files? Or do I have to convert it to a special psp video?

if its an AVI i think 'virtualdub' can re-encode it with your choice of codecs.

How long is this movie? I compressed a 1.5 hour movie down to ~350MB, and it looked ok, until there was a lot of stuff going on, then the pixelization monster came until less stuff was happening. Have the video at least 512kbps to look good, thats what said movie was.

MediaCoder has a built-in wizard for PSP conversion. (It takes regular MP4 videos like you get off Google Video.) You should be able to tweak the settings down.

200 megs for a full length movie? It's not going to be pretty but you might be able to go that small.

I would recommend the Mp4 format for the smallest size. I used a nice little converter on a japanese/chinese site (I don't know which) that I'll dig up the link for if you don't use a different one already suggested.
