In the original Halo, it's all about the pistol. Three shots to the head will take someone out – it's pretty hard to beat that. Along with the pistol, the other keys are the power weapons like the sniper and rocket launcher, and the powerups – active camo and overshield. Mainain control of these and you should win. :p

you can play halo 1 and 2 online for free with xbconnect or xlink kai. you do not need a modchip.
If you are playing with all these leet halo dudes, I regret to inform you that you will not win. Ive been playing with my friends who aren't even top 45 for the last year and I have been unable to beat any of them. ever.
But dont give up cause its still fun as heck.
my own (pro) halo advice: (I only play halo 2 so some weapons might be different)
- dont run out in the open. ever. stay behind things or you will get headshotted by someone sniping from some cheap spot. everyone who is really good loves to snipe. they know all the cheap spots
- plasma pistol/battle rifle. nuff said
- with a rocket launcher, aim for a solid object near them, not the person themself. you are much more likely to hit it and the explosion will kill them anyways. if there is nothing near them, jump and use the ground.
rockets are kind of like chess, the strategy of it all. you want to fire the first rocket and get them to jump, then fire the next one where they are going to land. checkmate.
- if their shields are down, switch to something with a high rate of fire like an SMG. you only need to hit them once or twice, it dosent have to be powerful. dont use plasma weapons, obviously.
- if you suck at sniping, but you just hit someone whos pretty close to you, you are much more likely to kill them with a grenade or a gun than another sniper bullet (because their shields are down anyways). if they are too far away then keep sniping.
. avoid this situation by getting headshots the first time.
- get the overshield.
- if your shields are low.. RUN AWAY. duck behind something. you are not only trying to get as many kills for yourself, but trying to stop other people from getting kills on you.
- beat-downs can be used to finish people in situations where you cant or shouldn't keep shooting. including all of the following
* you are using a plasma weapon (only effective against shields)
* you have to reload or are out of ammo
* you have a long range gun
- pair a plasma gun with a needler. better than double needlers IMHO.
- its cheap, but lurk and steal other peoples kills. then kill them too. my friend does this all the time and he also wins a lot.
good luck, have fun

wow, how did he do that? my school has all kinds of blocks. my friend did find out though you can use flash drives.Metroid fan wrote:Well I only play the computer version during school (some kid stuck it on all the computers...) and getting in vehicles rules! But then again you don't have the banshee or the flamethrower.
I know an administrator account that is passwordless at my school. I plan on having some fun the last week of school, when it doesn't matter if I get kicked off. Maybe I could install a game on the school shared drive, and hide it deep within a maze of folders...ganonbanned wrote:wow, how did he do that? my school has all kinds of blocks. my friend did find out though you can use flash drives.Metroid fan wrote:Well I only play the computer version during school (some kid stuck it on all the computers...) and getting in vehicles rules! In Halo 1, use magnums anytime you can. For some reason, magnums copulate pwn in this game, which is something they fixed in Halo 2. If you want to get really good at sniping, set the look sensitivity to its highest, and then roll the joystick over their head (it takes a while to get used to), and fire right before the reticule will turn red. It works wonders if you're firing at a moving person, even in a vehicle. My cousin taught me this, and he's a level 42 sniper, which is pretty damn good. Also (I think this is in Halo 1) learn BXR combo and get better at pumping the semi dual-wield weapons.
you asked if xboxlive was free? no it isn't. but there is a porgram out there called XBconnect, there is another one aswell. But google it and download it and you can play any games online for free using the " system link " section of the game. Its sweet as
ps you don't have to have a modded xbox to play if you thought that
