Fami-Twin Portable ----- Getting started :)

Well I started my Portable Fami Twin.

Parts list :

Fami-Twin
Polycase ZN-40
PSone Lcd with Led Mod
Snes Controller

I started by doing the Led Mod and Antiglare removal mod on the Psone screen. I used 6 led's from here : http://tinyurl.com/3xczxb

It wasn't that hard and it turned out real nice.

Then I started on the Fami-Twin. I will be using just the Snes portion for now, but I left in the Nes portion because I will be adding it later. I had to rewire all 3 boards, and I also had to move several caps to opposite sides of the boards.

Here's 2 pics of some of the progress so far. I of course still have to remove the Rca's and power jacks to directly wire them. And you'll notice I already removed the Nes connector.

I'm working on the controls right now, but am a little stuck. I was going to use an Snes controller but I don't want to hack it up and the hack up the case. Does anyone see a problem with using tact switches? I think that would be easier for me.

Looking good so far!

No offense, but I hope I beat you to making the first finished SNES portable using the ZN-40 case! I haven't been able to work on it for the past two weeks and it's driving me nuts!

Well you probably will beat me. I'm in no hurry. Work, 2 kids, wife, and 2134 other projects make it tough.

From Polycase.com. It's the same one that g-force used in his PlayMad portable. It's perfect for making portables.

I can't wait to get my SNESp done! Check this out.

Would that particular polycase be decent for an original SNES portable? I've been meaning to make a case for my project for a while, because currently it's just inside the original case with a screen and controller glued onto the back.

I honestly don't think it will actually. the screen is a tight fit is what it looks like and the snes orig. mobo is a little bigger

Yea the Psone screen only fits if you chop the top and then it barely fits.

Nope I'm using an SNES mini. I made some good progress this past weekend on my cartridge slot cover (you're all going to love it), and I put a coat of gray primer on the front half of the case just to see how it would look. It's turning out great! I can't decide what color to paint the case. I'm thinking about going with plain black, but I'm also considering being "daring" and painting it red. I don't want it to be too gaudy though... I do also have that blue paint... I can't decide!
