Whats the cheapest dial up?

Post by ValiantVenality »

What would you guys say would be the cheapest dial up? My mom says I use too much internet (she has to pay too much each month) and she says I need to either not be on the internet or pay for my own internet. Wait... I just realized! I can finally use my dreamcast again!! Yahoo! (I'm always using my moms old crappy computer). Thanks in advanced!!!

I think NetZero still does their 10 hour a month free dial-up service...

Doesn't your mom know that unless you have dial-up you get charged a flat rate no matter how much you use it?

man back in the day there was an ISP called FreeI, it was free and kicked ass for dialup, had chatrooms and all kinds of cool stuff then they went bankrupd (who woulda guessed  ) and we had to get pay internet. you can still get juno dialup for like 10$ a month so can netzero and peoplePC.

freeI YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! I lived like 10 minutes away from their corp HQ. I remember the day they flopped and had to sell everything in their building. Waaah. Poor .com flop. :(

Anyway yea, I just saw the netzero add not 2 days ago. They're probably the best place to go to now. Earthlink was one of the last bastions but they turned into complete um. Well, just like everyone else. :/

do you have to get dial-up?

they offer crippled high speed for pretty low prices. they cap you at like twice dial-up speed (And then sell it to you as if thats a good thing) but at least you can use your phone.

Hey, I have crippled DSL and it's pretty decent. Way better that dial-up and it's only $15!

You *should* be able to use internet on your DC via dialup straight to your PCs modem, then route it through the PC to the broadband connection. Then again, if you can find cheap/free dialup it'd be easier.

What kind of internet do you have now? And is your mom mad because you're always on her computer? If so, just get a router and another computer.

There is a software hack were you can use a computer's modem as a bridge to access a Cable/DSL internet connection. Do a google search to find the howto.

Yea, man, what's the big deal? Just toss away $600-700. No biggie.

The cheapest and most available I remember is NetZero. I have free juno email from like 5 years ago, but I don't know if they still give it away free-- I know they have dial-up service though.

Edit: Free Juno internet! (I haven't looked for the "catch" yet)

He could have another computer already, and maybe even the router, and just not realized he could to that. And if its just for internet, a $50 computer would work fine for most stuff. Even if it does cost him a hundred bucks, at least he'd be able to surf the net faster than a snail. He wouldn't hog the phone line, either.
