AdBlock Plus to remove ads from forum

here's an idea that's a bit more work, but might generate a more steady income. naturally it's best if other people are willing to use it and the ad-block thread probably isn't the best place to find other people who would do that.

we all have favorite ebay searches, and most of us purchase items on ebay pretty regularly. what if we could use the forum profile editor to store our favorite ebay searches (automatically configured with benheck account info), so whenever we want to buy something, favorite searches are handy where we can get to them? we're going to buy from ebay anyway, we may as well give somebody something extra for our favorite searches even if they're not video game related.

I buy mostly RC parts on ebay, for example, and I'm never going to see a button at the top for 'Tamiya rolling chassis' , even though I search for it every day. The more advanced ebay search features that could be integrated the better. (price, category, etc.)

who codes the forum, just Ben, or select admin? It may even be enough of an income generator to consider outsourcing the setup work to some starving college student/illegal alien somewhere, or swapping some custom work for it.

instead of seeing this as an ad to block, why can't it be a tool to use. really these links are a lot less annoying than a lot of other advertising schemes, and a site with this level of traffic certainly could be getting a lot more aggressive with them.

Could there be an ebay search box that we could type our own searches in to? That would address Reaperman@home's issue, and then just tell everybody to use that for all their ebaying.

That shouldn't be too hard to do, it's just a simple JavaScript script. If you look at the link URL, the search term is in there. So, using JavaScript, you take whatever's in the seach box, and then throw it into the link and go.

It'd be nice if you could just use an html GET form, but looks like you can't because the search phrase is used twice (once on it's own and once as part of the ebay url)
