how to play halo!

Post by ganonbanned »

at my school, there is a videogame tournament. the games are super smash bros melee, halo, guitar hero and madden 07. I am great at SSBM and guitar hero, have never played madden 07 (I assume its just like the other ones though, right?), and I SUCK at halo. any tips for the game? I need help, winner gets a wii. I dont like the wii as much as 360, but im open to try things, and my friend will always trade his 360 premium for one  . any halo tips?

Use the dual needlers, they're great range and they explode. Also, don't do too much run and gunning, yes, a bash is cool. But a quick kill is essential.

PS: I'm sorry about the mobo, man. I won't be buying it, sorry for the wait. I'll make it up to ya.

Pistol is my favorite weapon on Halo 1. Its the perfect mix between the sniper and assault rifle. Assault rifle at range sucks, its just a bullet hose, so only use it if there are enemies packed together or you're close. And pick up every grenade you see, I do a lot worse when I don't have any 'nades, you can usually at least avenge yourself with them.

Plasma Pistol and Assault rifle/Or Pistol, Fully charge the Plasma Pistol and hit your enemy with it, there sheild will go down and will be open for an attack, and with no sheilds, a pistol should take em out easy, or if your not a very good shot, a Assult rifle would be best, but less accurate and less powerful.

if Halo 1, run up with the magnum. If it's halo 2, rush people with a warthog, or go kamikaze.

I still can't tell if you mean Halo 1 or 2, but oh well. Sniper is the win in Halo 1 and 2 for short and long range if you master it. If the level is tiny like Beaver Creek or whatnot, pistol pwns.

EDIT: This is coming from a guy that won a Halo tourney down at LA, just in case you were wondering. :P

Change the stick sensitivity to at least 7 or 8 and get used to it. a lot of people who play at the standard 3 will have a hard time trying to find the enemy if he's not in front of them, since it takes so long for them to turn around. In close-range, if you can jump over or past an enemy, you'll have the advantage because you can turn faster and can keep your crosshairs on him the whole time, while he'll still be spinning around trying to see where you went.

Know the weapons. Obviously, you don't want to rush someone with a shotgun, and you don't want someone with a pistol to see you coming from a distance. If you can, count their ammo, or at least watch for them to reload, so that you can swoop in when they're vulnerable.

Don't start fights that you know you can't win. I don't know how they will tally a score (maybe kills - deaths, or just who has the most kills), but you should learn who's the best and who's marginally better than you, so you know who to avoid completely, and who you should flank until they start fighting someone else. Target people already engaged in battle, since there's a chance that you can get two quick kills if you are able to finish them both off. Also, don't be afraid to run and hide if you're getting pounded.

Crouch to keep off of the radar. This is essential when you're trying to sneak up on people.

If you have the game, then Truth and Reconciliation on Legendary would be a great training ground. There's ample amounts of sniper practice at the beginning, and there's a bunch of short-range squabbling once you get into the ship.

No
Practice with some friends that are maybe a bit better than you, or dudes with your skill and one thats pwns, thats how I play and have gotten better. And like Jay said, hide if you're taking flak and let your shields charge, you gotta wait quite a bit longer for them to charge on Halo 1.

Well I only play the computer version during school (some kid stuck it on all the computers...) and getting in vehicles rules! But then again you don't have the banshee or the flamethrower.
