Does it really work?

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

I know some people here are aware of a site that sells Chinese mp3 players and other cheap crap, uxcell. Seeing as their players are so damn cheap, I'm picking up a couple for family and friend's upcoming birthdays, as well as some random video game accessories. All the different people I've talked to have said the site sells quality (well, quality for something made in China) products and is completely reliable. But I do like to get a wide variety of opinions. Anyone else ordered through these guys from their site or their various ebay sellers? And how well do the products hold up? They're just so tempting, and at that price, I couldn't resist buying a ton of crap. I just wanna know if it was a good idea.

I've ordered a player from them, it works pretty good but at first a misplaced lump of solder from manufacturing blocked the insertion of my SD card, but I managed to file it down till I could get the slot working. The only other problems are that it seems to use a custom USB driver, and not UMS, plus it won't write to my SD card (probably my own fault, it's a really a mini in a converter).

Overall I'd say they are more or less the equivalent of a cheap Walkman knockoff, just fine for a casual user or as a first DAP for someone.

Remember shipping and customs! For Canada it's 5$ plus a percentage of the cost of the item.
