What?? The S controller and 360 controller are Micro$oft's gifts to the world. At least they don't use the same stupid controller design for 10 years. Gamecube controllers are nice, but the jagged area around the analogs is annoying, and the handholds are a bit too thin.jones wrote:And (I'm in the minority here) I actually loved the controller. Way better than the dual shock or Gamecube controllers in my opinion.

I love GC controllers and absolutely loath ps2 controllers I've never really used an Xbox (halo for pc). GC had the best games though metroid prime had stunning visuals and great gameplay and is probably one of the best games i've ever played. That and Mario sunshine, the pikmins, Animal Crossing, SSBM, all 3 zeldas, prime two, all those megaman and sonic collections, sonic battle 2, phantasy star online, ect. the list is a big one. Even though not all of these are GC exclusives they are still great games.

I like the DualShock / DualShock 2 / Sixaxis. (I'm probably the only one.) Having the control sticks in the "afterthought" position is actually more comfortable to me, since I almost always wind up using the tip of my thumb to work it instead of resting flat.
I think everyone's basically saying "I hate sony because there sony and they suck because there not microsoft/nintendo
!1!11".
What's the problem with the controller design? Sure they kept it for a lot longer than the others but like my grandfather says "if it ain't broke don't fix it". (The VW Beetle was virtually unchanged for 40 years and they only made, what, 25 million of them?) And almost all the criticism that isn't blatant fanboyism revolves around the amount of time it remained unchanged. If you can't be constructive, don't bother posting about it.
I never got the N64 controller. It seemed pretty random. (I mean, 3 prongs sticking out the bottom? What am I, an octopus?) The addition of analog was nice, but I could never feel comfortable with it.
I haven't really used the Gamecube controller enough to form a decent poinion, but it's okay I guess. Some of the buttons around the big green one (A?) seem pretty small.
The Xbox original controller... well... you could probably make a house out of one of those things if you took the board out. Aside form the Atari 5200 trackball it must be one of the biggest console controlelrs ever. They finally got it right with the S controller.
The 360 controller is one of the best I've ever used. If they weren't so expensive I would have picked a couple up for my HTPC. (Instead I bought a couple PSone -> USB adapters. Hey we already have the controllers, why not use them?)

I'm not a fanboy against Sony, I just really don't like any of their games. I'm not into series games, like FF and Zelda (but I love Super Mario World and SM64...). 3 or 4 is the max number of games that should be in a series, in my opinion, especially if you number them. It seems kinda overboard to have 10+ numbered games in a series, plus all the not numbered ones. I guess I'm just not a dedicated gamer. I have a PSP, but guess what, there aren't really any games for it that are worth the money and long load times, though the Medal of Honor: Heros demo was fun, I might get it.
I'm not really one way or the other, but I prefer Nintendo and Microsoft systems because they have games and features that interest me, its not my fault Sony doesn't give me what I want.

Yeah, I like the original one a lot. The S-Type was pretty good though too. I liked what they did with the black and white buttons on that one. They were placed better than on the original.Mageslayer wrote:Was it you who liked the gigantic original one or are you talking about the S?
I liked the original a lot because it actually was a controller that fit my hands well. I don't think I have big hands, but maybe they're larger than average.
I would take the Gamecube controller over the Dual Shock actually. It wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't too bad either. To top it all off the Dreamcast controller would rank right behind the Xbox controller in this group. Other than the sharp edges it was a pretty solidly executed controller. And the VMU's were a bit ahead of their time me'sa thinks.
I just remembered another gripe I had about PS2, only 2 player (unless yuo get a multitap)! Did they do that for people with only one friend or sibling, so they wouldn't be sad when they saw all the empty controller ports? It sucks when you go over to someones house with a group of people and they have a PS2, only 2 people can play at a time and everyone else is bored.
