i want to build a sever out of an old computer for my freind its going to be a sever for moh spear head what sofware do i need and how should i set it up.

This will be for a LAN, I'm assuming, since you have dialup. You should just be able to download a program for it, or use the game to host a game.

How old is this old computer? And for a game with that low of specs, I don't think you'd need a server as good as the one in ganonbanned's link.

it a p1 i know that that probly wont run it but if it doesnt can i soft mod an xbox to be the sever.

This site has a couple dedicated server programs, one might work on 95.

Win95 will probably not run as a server.

I ran a bf42 server once with a AMD Althon 2500+ and a gig of ram. It used WinXP tho and it did a nice job intill you got over 12 players but I blame my bandwidth for that.

No. 95, 98 and ME both never had a built in networking and so unless you want to waste good ram having a network program installed and running I would suggest looking at a networking OS. If it needs to be Windows the lowest I would say go is NT 4.0, though 2000 would be even better.
