You can just power the console with the AC adapter, since it was most likely going to be a "laptop" anyways and this won't make it much more portable.

Here's what you should do: Make an add-on for the Wii to make it "somewhat more" portable! (Basically build a small screen that can stand on top of the Wii on its own with a built in "sensor" bar.) You can just get another AV cable to hardwire to the screen, and IR LEDs for the "sensor bar" replacement. If your folks give you any more trouble, yotell them something like "I'm making a little TV to plug it into", they might "get it" then. (This really isn't any different than plugging the Wii into a TV, so if they think this is voiding the warranty they're pretty uninformed. If that's the case, forget about it or save up to buy your own Wii to break.)

The only way he can prove me wrong is if he supplies pictures. I don't care if it's a dock or a mod, pictures mean it's real.. He announced this project out of the blue, being 90% done, and then it's axed because his parents find out.. How did he keep it a secret from them for so long?

Ok, He said that he should be taking pictures SOON, like within the next few days ( when I talked to him last night) for one thing. And no offense, but I don't really think he cares to "proves himself" to somebody... Why should he care if you believe him or not? The two holes up top are for the sensor bar IR LED's, and the one to the right is a headphone jack placement hole.
Bottom/Docking bay area:
That's where the Wii slides in, and the jacks snap in place. There's also a thin strip of velcro just in case, as well as a hole drilled for fan ventillation.
Inside of case:
Hollow space to house electronics.
Mock-up time!
The thing is, I never actually VOIDED the Wii's warrantee! As you can see, this docking-bay style portable is completely modular, and thus I never actually opened the unit. Though I doubt I'll ever be able to finish now, as my Wii just broke!
For completely different reasons, though. The fan crapped out on me, and though the Wii still works fine, I'd hate to have it overheat on me. I'll probably get a new one from BestBuy next weekend, now I'm glad I decided to make this portable an attachment!

i like the modular approach. you should put a fan and a usb hub in it so it can function as a port replicator maybe.
do you think you would be willing to sell it as-is?
as for the replacement, i think it would be faster to go through nintendo than waiting for the store to have stock on hand..
