That's why we don't have cable (TV or Internet).

DSL + over-the-air TV = cheap

My upload speed

EDIT: ISP = Sky, not Easynet. My Internet Speed varies usually... it can be between 1000kb/s to 16000kb/s, it's ADSL, so it's usually low.

Here is one thing you can do but it is kinda of expensive.

Its called modem bonding it requires two phone lines and two modem cards. you use both to login to your isp and sorta get double speed.

2*56k = 112k (sorta).

For most of us it is cheaper to get cable or dsl but if all you can get is 56k its the only real option.

ISDN :) 2*128k = 256k :D lol

note that your isp may not support this and if it does probably won't like it. lol

links kind of old though. http://www.56k.com/reports/bonding.shtml

the software for bonding i never ever liked. and shotgun modems are not being made anymore you would have to find an old one. thats prolly easier then finding an isp that supports them...

isdn is not bad if you cant get anything else.

The modem bonding is just having two 56k lines working to gether in sync to bring the data faster so if you can get 56k you should be able to do this. That is if your isp can or will let you.

I'm happy with that. I have Comcast as well... they're fast, but they are NOT very reliable. I have Vonage, and the QoS of my internet service is a bit low for it. I get choppy calls far too often. I think it has a bit to do with my upload speed as well. Guess I just need to get a VoIP accelerator. :?

Wow, cable provides VERY fast speeds. Shame that however much I beg my parents they will not switch from ADSL to Cable :( They think they'll have to stay away from BT forever but i'm certain you can have 2 lines, Fibre-Optic Cable line and BT (that's a phone line), is that true?

Yeah we have Cable in UK.
