freakin windoze problems
Ok here goes, has anyone had these kinds of problems
whenever we try open anything (programs, shortcuts, firefox) we get this error message "(program name) has encountered a problem and needs to close" blah blah blah its really frustrating, whenever this happens we have to restart the machine (sometimes multiple times) and sometimes we get one that says "regAngen has encountered a problem, blah blah blah" anyone know a way to fix this, I dunno whats wrong with my machine and its really getting on my nerves, Help.

Sounds like it might be a drive problem. Try letting Windows run CHKDSK at bootup. (Right-click your hard drive in My Computer, select Properties, click the Tools tab, click "Check Now...", check the "Automatically fix errors" box, click "Start", and when it asks you is you want it to schedule a scan when you reboot click "yes" or "ok". I forget which.) Reboot and let it do its thing. (DON'T press any keys when the screen changes from the XP logo to the framed command prompt because that will skip the test.)

thanks bic but no joy on that scenario still getting all kinds of errors and now its telling me when i give it the ol' 3 finger salute that task manager had been disabled by my system administrator,,,,, I am the sysadmin on this puter and i did no such thing i assure you, all the virus scans i have performed come up negative and system mechanic 6 tells me that everything is fine so i guess there is no choice but to do a format and fresh install and see if that fixes it (though i don't really want to)
btw: what the hell is "back web flash player (sprite)" it keeps coming up with an error when we are not doing anything

ok think I fixed it, I think all that was wrong was that my wife had installed myspace im on the puter and as soon as I uninstalled it everything started to work better, now on to the current prob is that I need all the music files on the puter to be shared with everyone but I want them to stay in the folder they are in now, shared but still in my folder so that all my conversion programs can still find them, any one know ho9w to do this?

1. Right-click the folder, select "Properties".
2. Click the "Sharing" tab, then check "share this folder on the network".
3. Give it a name and click OK. The folder should now have a hand icon (like a waiter is holding the folder) so it's shared.I wouldn't give it a name with spaces; call it "Music" or something. Hyphenate or use CamelCase if you want more than one word.
4. You can access it through My Network Places or by typing either \\[computer's network name here]\[shared folder name] or \\[computer's IP address]\[shared folder name] into the Run box. (So if your computer's IP address is 123.456.789.012 and the folder's share name is "Music" you would type \\123.456.789.012\Music and it should appear.
The properties window may be slightly different on your computer if you're running Servcie Pack 2 or Home Edition (I've got Professional SP1), but that's the general idea.
(I know you can't have IP address numbers higher than 255; that's just a BS number.)

If she went and downloaded MySpace IM, then she probaly went to websites that cause problems. (One time my sister went to some hairstyle website and the work PC got really screwed up. It took months to get rid of the entire problem!)
I think it would be best to reformat and start back at square one. Then reinstall your software and do all the Windows updates. (Except IE 7 because it's crap.) If you've run all sorts of utilities and cleaners and it still doesn't work right, reinstalling is the best option. If you do, make 2 partitions on your hard drive. One for Windows and your applications, and one for all your stuff. That way if the computer gets hopelessly buggered up again you can reinstall and keep your documents.
I fyou really have to have an instant messenger, I suggest GaIM.

Its the program that you use to log on to AIM, MSN, gtalk, Yahoo, and IRC. It owns all of the separate programs, but you still need an account for whatever you want to log into.ganonbanned wrote:is that some weird form of AIM?bicostp wrote:If you really have to have an instant messenger, I suggest GaIM.
