Video Editing software

Okay, here is the situation: I have science project due on tornadoes, I decided to be bold and go for a video, I have 90% of the hard ware working, only problem is I don't know a good yet easy program that I can use to edit video footage. I don't care about the products price because I have a *special* place that I get software (I enforce the "don't ask, don't tell policy).

PS: I want to do some crazy stuff like have me in the foreground and have a wicked tornado in the background.... but I don't mind if I can't do that

Two of the best video editing programs out there are Adobe Premiere and Pinnacle Studio, both of which I think Ben used to edit Port Washington (Which is STILL a cool movie, IMHO!), but you'll need to have a pretty good computer to run either of them... that's the only reason I haven't... erm... "gotten" them yet.

Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects.

Together they can do wonderful things.

Okay, at my *special* place that I get some programs they have Final Cut 5 Essential Editing, Essential Effects, and Beyond the Basics.... Which one or ones should I get? Oh, they also have Final Cut 4

I have Adobe After Effects, haven't really used it though. It seems very good and has many options for effects and transitions.

As retarded as this may sound, iMovie HD is great for you want (But use Sony Vegas for Windows if you don't have access to a Mac)

Sony Vegas is pretty good

This is kinda stupid, but if I wanted to say for example put me in front of a tornado using film editing software, would I need to record in front of some sort of a green screen? (in my case a homemade one)

Google "chroma-key"

I used Pinnacle Studio 9, worked great and didn't hog resources. I didn't use the special effects much, but noone ever should (they just scream amateur moviemaker)
