IRC?

anyone use IRC?

I want to try it but it needs to be free and be able to download things.

What channels do you use. A ben heck Channel might be cool.

Haven't there been like 12 benheck chatrooms (IRC, Vent, etc...) altogether?

I use IRC all the time, usually on EFnet (#ytmnd) & Gimp (#vc).

the might have been, I post on this forum in burst so I'm not surprised if
I missed something like that.

I use IRC all the time, usually on EFnet (#ytmnd) & Gimp (#vc).

What client do you use? Is it free? can I download files with it?

I have never used IRC before and i wanted to try it.

back when I was a kid I ran an fserve.

Recently I've had to go on there to dig up a few things I couldn't get anywhere else--I can't believe they haven't replaced mirc with something easier to use. the fserve portion is a huge pain in the rear now that I have the internet connection to really use them. All the gui file browsers are terrible.

but no, I never 'chat' on IRC, and under no circumstances would I ever consider doing so. IRC is no place to be social, you really don't want to talk to those people.

mIRC is shareware. Don't worry, after it expires in 30 days, the only difference is that you have to wait an extra 5 seconds & click on an "OK" when you start the program.

I use IRC in ZDaemon (A port of Doom/DoomII.) so I'm in #zdaemon and occasionally #skulltag.

Holy crap vb, you have a fast-ass connection. I barely got a 1600kb/s dl speed (although I'm using wireless) with a cable isp. I think my upload could've been a lot better over ethernet. What kind of isp do you have?

Know any channels that are noob friendly I want to get a better understanding of how to use IRC before I go on a big channel.
