RC helicopters

anybody do rc helicopters? i want to get started.. is it fun? ill prob mount a streaming camera on it

I bought a "6ch" CP helo. I say it's really only 4 to the TX, but the others are mixed. It needs some parts right now that I'm too lazy to order. I think I'm sticking to cars for a while, this one moves a bit to fast for me.

I can fly them a little, but I'm a lot better with r/c airplanes. Here's the one that I've been flying a lot lately. It won't go too fast in forward flight and has a tendency to correct its attitude when you let go of the sticks. Its a good one to learn how to hover with and get used to what is known as head-on disorientation.

It'll take a good bit of practice before you can be really good at flying them. Actually, it'll take a good bit of practice before you can really fly them at all. Like what myersn said about the disorientation, it's something you have to overcome before you can fly 'em. That, and learning how to properly control the throttle so you don't plow them into nearby objects.

After that, though, they're fun as heck.

I used to do a bit of RC flying myself. Not into it as much anymore.

It's harder than it looks. But you'll be so happy when it turns out well!

And you'll be really sad when it doesn't. Be prepared to spend a lot of cash when you first start with this hobby. I've got several smaller rc airplanes that I probably have put between $300 and $400 in to before they ever left the ground the first time. Nothing sucks more than to have to pick up all pieces after a bad landing. My dad recently wrecked beyond repair one of his rc airplanes that he probably had $800 invested in.
