help with battery...

i need help...i need a battery to power 10v 850mah...if i get the right mah do i still have to get the right voltage...im tryin to power a sega genesis model 2 by i have know ideas at this point???

No, that's not quite what you need.

You need 10V, 850 mA, not 850mAh.

mA stands for milliAmps.
mAh stands for milliAmp-hours.

An 850mAh battery would only power your genesis for about an hour-- and much less if you are also using it to power a screen.

You really want as high an mAh value in a battery as you can reasonably fit in your financial and spatial limitations.

And yes, you definitely need to have the correct voltage. As far as batteries go, that's the most important thing. The genesis will pull as much current as it needs to run. If you have a 2500mAh battery, the Genesis will still only pull about 850mA of current. However, it needs a potential difference of 10V, and that's something you have to give it.

I don't have that much experience with Genesis hardware, so it's possible that the whole thing will actually run on 8 or 9 volts because there's often some amount of tolerance in such numbers. However, at this point you would be better off just sticking to specifications as closely as possible.

Voltage can range from 7.2-12+ volts for just the Genesis, right? And if you're powering a PSone screen with it, 7.2-9v is about all you can do.

The correct voltage battery would be most efficient.

A 7.2-7.4 volt one. I suggest you go with a Ni-MH battery. Decent storage and no damage of exploding. Like Gamelvers Li-Ions. He hasn't been here in awhile.

Just thought I'd throw this in there: Gensis 3 draws no more than 200ma (I tested it myself) and I don't think the other versions would require much more. Use 6 1.2v batteries or 1 7.2v battery and you won't need a regulator.
