GBA Classic? (A project idea)

Here's my idea..
I want to turn this:


Into this:


All the main features of the SP would be placed in the same place as the old Gameboy's guts. (Game slot in the same spot.. battery where it should be, volume and link port as they are on the GB)

Right now, I don't have anything to take apart and look at.. but, is this do-able?

I I know I'll have to rewire some stuff. And I don't know anything about that.
Anyone have anything that would help me?

..and my major hurdle, getting the SP buttons to work through the GB's button layout.
I doubt I can cut the circuit board at all. So I need another way to make it work.
..unless I can cut the circuit board. Info on that would be nice.

sounds more simple to order a free samplke project case and work from there, retro fitting the sp to fit in the gbo sounds annoying...

I have a friend who did this - easy and painless. You don't even need to solder. As long as you use an sp, it works perfectly. Though the karts have to be loaded thru the battery slot...

Annoying? Yes.
Awesome? YES

..if I can make it work, I plan on makin' three more after the "prototype".
(One for me, one for my sister, and one for a friend)

Plus, I have a few extra features I wanna add.

Anyways, does anyone know if I can desolder the cart slot, charging port, and link port?
They'd be rewired of course, but this way I can stick them in the shell wherever I see fit.

Rewiring the cart slot is going to be really hard. To desolder everything just use a desoldering iron

I intend on doing this. I just need a GBASP.

I don't want to make it able to play GBA games though, I just want to have a backlight GB/C XD
