Updating COmputer Bios

Post by Jongamer »

Ok I was gonna install Tiny Xp on my pentium 3, thing is the Install disc requires me to have a computer that can boot from a CD on Start-up and my computer bios doesnt support that.

Is there a way to Update my computer Bios (Current Bios is A11)to a Bios that will support booting from Cds? if so can somone tell me how?

What's the computer and/or motherboard? Obviously you can't just download any BIOS update and run it... unless you like breaking things. :P

You're sure boot order isn't set up right in Setup?

A11... hmm is it a Dell? Our old OptiPlex GX1 was updated to A11, but other manufacturers may use the same numbering scheme. (If it is a GX1 I think A11 is the newest version.)

<s>A safer solution would be to get a boot floppy that can read the CD and run Setup.exe.

www.bootdisk.com should have what you need. I recommend a 98 disk with CD support.</s>

EDIT: Use a Smart Boot Manager floppy instead. It's better than a DOS disk that may or may not have CD support.

Are you sure there isnt a button you should press? Try F2 or F12 or Delete in the BIOS Screen. If that doesnt work, do what bic said.
