WHY?

Post by ganonbanned »

I have been attempting to burn games for the last 6 months. I've tried numerous ways (make a disk in 5 minutes, SBiffy!com tutorial, dchelp's tutorial) and each one has failed. I have no Idea why the F it is happening. I remember once I burned some version of doom and it brought up a screen asking what WAD I wanted to play. I have also gotten it to bring up the Sbiffy! screen, but each time I get some, I click on something and the system resets! I have a version 0 (not 1, 0, I think it was a release model) why wont this work? Any help is appreciated.

also, my brother told me that according to his friend (who i've never met and wont give me burned games) you have to use something lower than winxp to burn. well im using xp, does this affect it?

yes, you need a self-boot program.

wow i always burn at the fastest speed and it works fine. have you tried burning a backup copy of a game? it might just be the way your compiling the disc image. what program are you using? if you want some good homebrew images go to www.underground-gamer.com all the ones ive used work great

Just get bootdreams and use it to make the file make sure that it's TAO for the image file though otherwise it won't work.

To make a game selfboot, follow theses simple steps :

1-Create yourself a file of 705 600 bytes and name it "audio.raw"

2-Burn it in multi-session mode using cdrecord or maybe Nero will work too (for cdrecord: cdrecord -dev=x,x,x -multi -audio audio.raw [x,x,x is the adress of your drive])

3-Create an iso of your game you wanna burn (i.e. NesterDC) using mkisoft:
(mkisofs -C 0,"11702 OR 11700" -V DISCNAME -l -o data.iso FOLDERNAME)Where foldername is the name of the fol;der with all your files in it this folder should be in the same as cdrecord.

3.1If it's acommercial game, binhack it using binhack.exe to the 11702 value if you burnt it with cdrecord, or 11700 if you burnt it in dao mode.

4-Burn the resulting data.iso using cdrecord/nero and this command linefor cdrecord: cdrecord -dev=x,x,x -xa1 data.iso.bat

Wait until it's done, put in a DC, and ...
ENJOY!

Sorry if I ain't really descriptive, but I was in a hurry...
